Who is the Hamilton Academy of Medicine?

The Hamilton Academy of Medicine, officially founded in 1899, is the local voluntary professional association for Physicians in the Greater Hamilton Area. The Academy strives to bind the local medical community together while catering to the educational, social and political needs of its members.

What They Needed

Virtual Image has a strong history working together with the Hamilton Academy of Medicine to develop, build, maintain and tweak their web presence throughout the past ten years. When they came to us with the desire to undertake an entire responsive redesign, everyone involved in the project experienced a significant degree of excitement and anticipation.

The Academy project was to be a complete redesign and redevelopment of their existing presence. They recognized the strong need for accessibility in their field, which created substantial demand for a mobile-first, responsive approach. Another aspect of the project involved creating an e-commerce and membership management system for their member physicians.

What We Delivered

The Hamilton Academy of Medicine site is actually a combination of two individual properties: The main, public facing presence and a separate, private site for Academy members. As a result of this, two designs were required, and each of the sites required different functionality. We put together a detailed blueprint for tackling each unique challenge presented by the project and got to work.

The end result is a clean, modern and easy to navigate site. No corners were cut, and the end result reflects the care and thought that went into every aspect of the project. We are proud to have been a part of establishing an accessible, timeless web presence for such an important organization in our community.
